The origin of the myth
The genesis of everything. The beginning of a wine history that is written from the slopes of Carraovejas. A wine born to pay homage to a landscape and a man: José María Ruíz.
- Varieties: tinto fino (75%) and cabernet sauvignon (25%).
- Alcohol by volume: 13%
- Soils: limestone texture with red clays and white loams. Low granulometry and high water retention.
- Altitude: around 850 meters.
- Harvest: manual, in boxes 15 kg
The grapes used to make this wine come exclusively from the Pago de Carraovejas in Peñafiel. Because of its particular orientation and microclimate this land is considered a privileged growing site for grapevines.
The grape went into the winery at a cool temperature (15ºC) that facilitated a slow fermentation at low temperature for a long maceration.
This wine is a very characteristic Ribera del Duero wine, abundant robe, well balanced in acidity and degrees and well structured. It has been defined as aromatic, ample, long and silky.
